No I didn’t find this spider in the garden. When you find out where I actually found it, you might wish it was found in the garden. I saw this spider building it’s web just above a window well and at a house in Caldwell Idaho. Though basically harmless, for whatever reason the spiders of always engendered a primal fear in me.
Garden spiders, or orb weavers weave notoriously strong webs. When they catch their prey in their web, they paralyze their victim with injected venom. When their prey has liquefied, then they consume it. It’s kind a like having a smoothie. Except, it’s not like a smoothie at all, and it doesn’t have ginseng. Or ginkgo.
