Funnel Weaver Spiders are some of the more interesting web building spiders that we have in the Boise area. These spiders are similar in appearance to Wolf Spiders and we’ve a similar web to the more dangerous Hobo Spider. I recently found a web by of these spiders in Meridian, Idaho:
These two pictures are of before and after. These spiders hope to attract pray onto their web, then afterwards climb out from the hole in the center to devour it. Funnel Weaver Spiders are found around homes near rubbish piles, firewood, and other outside debris. Do your best to limit this clutter in order to prevent harborage from being around your home. Regular perimeter treatments are a must to get these pests.
