The old proverb goes something like this: “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
That certainly is the case with billbugs. Every year we try our best to warn people of their potential to cause damage to Boise area lawns. Every year some think they are immune! This year seems particularly bad for Billbug infestations.
Here are a couple of pictures that I took of some billbug infestations in turf grass in Nampa, Idaho.
These destructive grubs can cause an awful lot of damage! If you’re one of the unlucky people who have a billbug problem, remember that next year in May is the best time to treat to prevent billbug damage all year round. Don’t think that you will be immune! It can and will happen to you!
2 applications in May and June with a systemic insecticide will protect your lawn from the dangerous feeding of these little grubs. Even now you can protect your own from further damage by making the same exact application.
