While meeting with a customer in the Bridgetower subdivision in Meridian, Idaho, I saw quite a sight:
A wolf spider! And not only a wolf spider, but a wolf spider with hundreds of babies on her back! Won’t that make you sleep good tonight! While observing this particular spider, she tried to escape our gaze by going in the crack, but the egg sac was so huge that it kept getting stuck.
Wolf spiders can get as big (roughly) as a quarter, or even bigger! These spiders are commonly found in the Boise area around doors, windows, house plans, basement, & garages. The spiders do not spin webs, but hunt around looking for food. Like the spider above, females will place the egg sac on her back, until the baby spiders hatch. Hundreds can be in one single egg sac.
