Whether you enjoy the ambience of a real Christmas tree, or you’d rather just buy a fake one they are a quintessential part of the holiday season! Most people can remember waking up on Christmas morning and running down the stairs to see a Beautiful tree with an abundance of presents underneath. When I was little I had a mix of both real and fake trees, so I got to see the best of both worlds!
There is something about the smell of a real tree that just reminds you of Christmas, but along with that comes all the other things a real tree brings…BUGS!
That’s right, Christmas trees have the potential to bring in several kinds of small pests into your home to enjoy the holidays as well. Most Christmas tree farms do a good job of removing most of the pests on their trees, but there are always the tenacious ones that end up joy-riding on the tree, into your car and then into your home. Aphids, mantises and spiders are some of the bigger ones you could potentially see on your tree this holiday.
Make sure you do these things when buying a real tree for Christmas:
- Shake that tree out!! Before you bring it inside make sure you give it a good shaking to get rid of any pests that aren’t hanging on for dear life!
- Keep a clean area around the tree! Make sure you are not creating an even more inviting space for the critters looking for a beautifully lit home. Clean up any needles that fall, make sure the water is good and vacuum or sweep anything/bugs that may have fallen.
If you find the bug problems still persist after the tree is gone and the holidays are over, call Barrier for a free quote/treatment! Wherever you live in the Treasure Valley, we are happy to rid you of any pest problems you are still encountering this winter! 208-463-4533
